For those considering satellite radio, I want to share a lucky find, especially for those, like myself, with a MY 2003 or earlier, which is not satellite ready.

My local honda dealer could do nothing for me. I didn't want anything installed in the trunk and I didn't want anything extra hanging off the dashboard. That is, I wanted a clean installation. That left only 1 choice: The Alpine CDA-9820XM, Alpine-USA.com, which mounts in the dashboard, replacing the stock Honda unit, and includes CD, AM/FM, and XM receiver. Nothing more to install except a small antenna, which I mounted unobtrusively at the center of the dashboard against the windshield. Bonus: 50W max power. List price: $400. Circuit City had to special-order it for me, but installed it free, after an additional $38 for harness, cables, etc. I am totally happy with it.

Do all the audio controls on the instrument panel work with your Alpine setup?

No, the audio controls on the driver's left side no longer work.

 

the 9820 is ok given the specs and the OEM x/m unit is not that bad because you don't see it in the trunk - I like my 9835 & xm direct because the specs are so much better than the 9820

but if you're happy than that's great

 

Modifry's DCI will fix your dash control problems. I have a 9820XM in a different car and I like it alot, but in the S2000 I have the 9835 and XM Direct. Suits my needs well.
