Default Sealing the door with Dynamat

Had a question about removing the plastic liner in the door and laying down dynamat extreme in its' place.

There is a white plastic "cover" on the plastic liner in the space covering the large "hole" in the metal of the door. This "cover" is recessed a bit to interface with a corresponding black "box" shaped piece inside the removed door panel (normally empty, but my crossovers are sitting in this very box).

If I remove the plastic liner completely and dynamat the entire door including the large open space where the "cover" used to sit, will I be able to reinstall the door panel properly? My concern is that the black "box" containing my crossovers will not have the necessary clearance without that slightly recessed cover in place.

Thanks for any help!

Just make sure you replicate the contours of the old plastic lining to accomodate your crossovers. I have mine there too.

I also have my crossovers mounted in that section of the door panel.

If you are using the plastic standoffs which are part of the panel to mount the crossover, you will find that you can cut off about 3/4" of those standoffs and still have enough grab for the screws. That gives you more clearance and you will not have to worry about protruding into that large hole (I sealed mine with sheet-metal).
