Easy guys, there are occasions where you don't need your seat belt and the beep is a big annoyance. For example, I often have to unbuckle and open the door to reach my garage card reader - card reader high, S2K looow. If I'm about to park, I don't feel the need to rebuckle up just to go down a ramp at 5 mph and pull in, but sure enough, that buzzer will go off if I don't.

If you're driving around in traffic without a seatbelt, you're an idiot, but you're only endangering yourself. I wear my seatbelt religiously, and I don't mind a little beep or a dash light to remind me if I forget. However, a repeated annoying beep that's impossible to ignore, just like the stupid yellow airbag warning signs on the visors that you can't remove, is irritating and unnecessary.

There are LOTS of times when that beeper drives me nuts. I often sit in neutral with the AC on during lunch breaks... I don't like having to wear a seatbelt to eat my lunch in peace.

It's simply a matter of not wanting big-brother systems in your car. Just because he dislikes the beeper doesn't mean he's going to go street racing without his seatbelt.

The beeper goes off sitting still? I was sure it only went off after you were moving for a while. Ya learn something every day.

And I think most of us are just busting his balls on the seat belt issue. Everyone knows it's a personal choice -- it's just a stupid one to drive without it. If he really does drive around without it in this car, I think he is a moron, but that is his chioce.

Yes, the freakin' beeper irritates me too when I am just moving the car.

This must be a 2004+ thing. 2000-2003 doesnt have a seatbelt warning beep, just a light on the dash.

well, actually, a couple of those seatbeltless scenarios were pretty reasonable... *shrug*

either way, as best i know, there's no such thing in my 2001. i have no idea how to disable it, and don't have access to a newer S to find out how....

i doubt the plug under the seat would work.... but it could be worth a try.

Well, I guess I asked for this one...

All I meant was, the oridinary time in the car, standing still, talking to the passenger, or waiting for your girlfriend on her driveway, or going through a drive-thru. Times like that. Of course I wear my belt when I'm driving down occupied streets. But at the same time, this car being so small and having no roof, is that really going to save me in an accident? it seems like any crash will be painful, belt or not.

My $ .02

yes it will - the car has held up remarkably well in crashs - people have flipped their Ss and the seat belt saved their lives..

I stand corrected. Anyway, I'll try the plug under the seat and hopefully that will do the trick.
