I just checked and you were right there is no 8w6 any more. (I've apparently been out of the game too long.) There is now an 8w7. That thing could pound with a 500/1 running it.

ok. well the 8w7 is like 500 bucks and requires like 1.35cuft seald. And yes they don't make a 8w6 anymore but I am gonna get a used one. THey have way more power handling than the w3.

honestly -- the W7 series by JL seem to be really nice speakers, but their cost simply drives them into the bad value range. i don't think i could ever recommend purchasing one unless money was simply no object. (and even then, i'd be hesitant)

and yes, 8W6 can be found used fairly readily... but they've been out of production for at least 2 years now i think...

which could be a problem if need a replacement.

Don't be turned off by the 8w3 and its 125W rms rating. Many run those things at 200+ and have no issues.

You can run them at 250 before you exceed the JL warranty

Okay, I got my 8w3 6ohm subs wired them down to 3 ohms and put it all back together and I am on the right track. The bass has significantly improved but I am not entirely happy yet. I can hear and feel it much better but I am still going to try my 8w6s when they get hear and swap in a 500/1 to jump the power up about 200watts and see if I am happy yet. I am also thinking that I have to so much air pumping out of the w 6.5 and 2 5.25s that I am drowning out the sound a little bit because I can hear it much better with the front speakers off. I am also considering a few ways to aid in air transfer to the cabin from the trunk if anyone has any ideas. I am gonna let Pas2knut hear it when I get done and see him at Wake the Dragon 05. I'll post again when I get the w6's and 500/1.

I got the w6's in today and there is not much difference in them without the additional power of the 500/1 so now that is all I am waiting for.
