JLAudio Crap?
Alphasonik not?? Riddle me this?? Newbees. People here that know me, know that when I say something is "crap" its SIMPLY means that BETTER equipment can be had for LESS money. Economics 101. This, by the first rule of economics, makes the more expensive, inferior product, "crap". I do NOT mean that the actual equipment is crap. I actually think the quality of the actual equipment is very good (sans the W7, huge POS) *JL is expensive *JL gear puts out one of the worst dollar/watt of ANY brand *JL customer service is probably the worst in the business *JL pays the highest commission of any manufacturer, thats why all shops push their stuff like pure white Columbian cocaine. Alphasonik gear is: *Reliable as hell *Half the price of JL * Two or Three times the power of JL *One of the BEST customer service departments of any manufacturer Anyway, please dont clog up his thread. You like JL, good for you. Enjoy it. I am trying to make him happy, and save him over $1200, so just either help him out, or dont bother. Thanks, and best of luck. |

Well you know........you are right! I believe I will do it myself. It can't be that hard. I've done installs before and I do all my own work on my '04 Civic SI. I did the stereo and amp install in that car, I'm just scared to pop the cherry of the S2K but since you said what you did I guess I will do it. Thank you. As far as HU's go I will get the Alpine 9857.
Jim's (PM PAs2kNUT) Spare tire cover. Wiring from www.knukonceptz.com (I will let you know which ones when you are ready) Amp of your choice, although I suggest a 4 channel that has 125x4 @4ohms Sub+box from Darkknight1999 (With the Alphasonik PSW810) Speakers of your choice. Let me know if you need any other advice. |

There is no need for rears at this point in time.......Focals wont fit easily behind the seat. 3 Amplifiers!?  Cap? Its an s2000, you wont notice the benefit of these things. Only a slower car and a thinner wallet. |
I'm 36 yrs old and am outta the "let's rattle the windows and doors in the house down the street" phase. I'm wanting a lil more sound with some bass because I have a convertible and the wind noise kinda drowns out the sound when you are doing 60-90mph down the road. I'm wanting quality also but I'm on a budget I've got 2 car payments, a mortgage, and more than one mouth to feed plus I would like to buy some more land as an investment. So NO I don't need to listen to 3 50000 watt amps pushing 2 36" subs with a 40" in dash DVD player loaded with the fast and the furious while I'm trying to do 70mph on a mountain road.

NFR:
I will not "clog' this thread. History 101: Yes, I may be 43 yrs. old but that will account for a certain degree of experience. In 1995, as an IASCA competitor, I have witnessed countless of sound systems that were taking awards. They comprised of Alpine head units, PPI or Orion amps, MBQuart components, and JLAudio Subs, and AudioControl signal processors. In the late 90's, Directed Electronics purchased PPI, Orion, and other companies to add to their conglomerate that includes Viper, Clifford,Sirius, etc. If you look at the specs of these companies (Orion & PPI)they are not what they used to be. You now have FOCAL from France and Audison from Italy producing some extremely high end equipment. I, as a former New Yawker, and currently a Floridian, have been loyal to the Miramar, Fla. based company JLAudio. You are correct, in that the JLAudio Clean Sweep may not be the best choice for the originator of this thread. I believe the Clean Sweep will work fine in my wife's Accord, in which it has a funky audio faceplate, but the S2000's 1din opening needs a real head unit. Perhaps one like the Alpine 9857. It is a quality component. I purchased mine on April 1st. I returned it on April 7th and waited until May 1st to purchase the 9861. To answer your question why I would purchase the 9861, it is VERY simple. I preferred 4 volt preouts vs. 2 volt preouts. 24 bit DACS vs. 1 bit DACS. I do not have a monitor hooked up to it, but as an audiophile, I enjoy the pure sound of a DVD-Audio disc from time to time. Wrong again. It fits. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.s2k...ecbc3a91f2.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.s2k...3f58770957.jpg Thraak P.S. NFR: I was simply listing what I am using, not what I recommend. I am not a salesman. To answer your question: Yes, in September I purchased a 2005 NFR, cash money, driven 365 days a year in sunny F L A. HOOOOWAAAAAH |
