Default Severly disapointed...

I had it all planned out...Got my slim line sub, pulled the amp out of my old car that I barely drive, and got the wiring kit.

The plan was to hook up the amp tonight and situate the amp and sub in the spare tire area and finalize everything tommorrow morning.

Problem #1: Stock head unit it crap and doesn't have RCA outputs.
Solution #1: Pull the head unit out of my old car and use that with a wiring harness and more money.

Problem #2: I lose the dash controls.
Solution #2: I buy a DCI to use the dash controls again.

This was a budget project that was suppose to cost under $100 and give me a little more bass. Now all of a sudden I'm looking at having to spend another $100-$150 just to use all the stuff I already have. What a crock! I think a little piece of me that was so pro-Honda just died.

Yeah, that's Honda's fault.

Just wait till you have to replace the tires at $160 each....

When was the last time you saw a deck with rca outputs from the factory? Why be upset with Honda bcause you didn't do your research?

seriously?! did you REALLY expect the factory radio to have rca outputs? you should've known it was crap from the beginning way before you started your little project.

You should have just used a line out converter....you want budget? You should have tried this. I have used this thing and it works fine for what you were trying to accomplish.

The sad part is I researched this for about a month and never once saw anything about the head unit not accepting RCA outputs. I kept looking for space saving options and wiring plans. But honestly it never crossed my mind to look for RCA inputs.
Guess we all fail somewhere.

I would honestly just upgrade the HU. For $100 more than the LOC you will get 1000x better sound out of a used Alpine or Pioneer unit. Check the For Sale Forum, there should be a few up. I also have an Alpine 9851 for sale (great condition) for $150 shipped.

Yes I'm clearly a noob in car stereo's...my amp does have a high level input. I've wondered what that did for about 2 years now. Thank you.

I swapped head units earlier today and did without the dash controls temporarily. I'll see what the difference in sound quality is tommorrow.

$160!? I wish....my tires are $300 each.

And to add...have you even seen a stock headunit with RCA outs? In all my years in audio, I have yet to come across. one.
