Default Shop Recommendation

Al & Ed's Auto Sound Recommends: (prices are retail)

JL S2000 Stealthbox $599
JL 300/4 Amplifier $549
MB Quart RCE216 $329 or MBQuart PCE216 $499

Alpine HU is a must for Ai-Net iPod functionality (anything from the CDA-9825 and up)
$199 - $549

Lemme know what you think.

Thanks,

jshmoe

P.S. I suggested SoundStream, Infinity, Focal, and others, and most of the time, the guy would say that they don't make their equipment like they used to.

Because they dont pay commision like they used too. As you can see, every shop from NY to LA recommends the same damn sh!t. Obviously there is something behind it. Frankly, JL, MBQuart, and other major popular brands pay massive commisions to shops, which is why they ALL push them.

I personally dont like shops that deal like that. JL stealhbox is a waste, the sub in it is mediocre, and a good shop can build a better box, with a better sub, for less money.

Dont go JL, for anything. Get a nice sub, Eclipse if you want the thump with JL cache. A custom box for the toolwell should be NO MORE than 200 bucks. MID/LOW line MBQUARTS are total crap, and not worth a dime. Get either perfects, or Focals, and another amp. 300.4 isnt nearly enough power. You need 500.4
(at least)

Also, notice another thing....JL is so money hungry, that they dont make convenient amps. What do I mean.....well....look at this...

An average system needs about 100wrms for speakers and at LEAST 300 for a sub. Now, the convenient thing for s2000 owners would be to get an amp that is 500.4, or 125x4. With JL, you cant do it. You need to get 2 amps....the 300.2 to deliver the same power. Its all about making money. If you want quality for life, look no further....

For the highs...

For the sub....
something from soundstream....go to millionbuy.com and browse for the latest deals.

If you dont car about trunk space....then....
You cant go wrong....

For the Sub, the T2-10 would do you great.

I see many people on here installing JL Amps, but I suppose they have their own reasons for doing it. Anyway, what do you think of Elemental Designs for the sub (10")? Can I fit a 10" in the trunk well if I remove the spare tire tools? Also, I'm thinking maybe I won't go rear speakers for now. If I get a 500x4, would I use 2 channels for the speakers and 2 for the sub? That gives me 250rms for the sub and 125 for the speakers...Is that good??

Also, I live in Los Angeles. Anyone know where I can go to listen to this stuff?? I went to Al & Ed's and they don't have crap (actually, they only carry crap), preferably in the San Fernando/San Gabriel/Downtown area?

Thanks,

jshmoe
