Default Should i buy the stereo harness adapter or not?

I want to purchase the wired alpine dci module for an alpine dva-9861. I'm installing new speaker wires, new ground and new power wires (as the unit needs a direct connection to the battery).

I was just wondering, is it worth the 12$ to get this harness thing or do i not need it. I need to install the dci but i'm not going to use any of oem radio wires, except for the ACC (maybe).

What do you guys think?

Dave

The harness that he sells is the same as the one you can get at walmart, except he has (two?) extra wires in there for the dash functions.

You can pull any of the other plugs out of their location and move them to where they need to be... I ordered the harness from him because I wasn't sure what I needed and since I already had my stereo installed w/ another harness I just looked at what was different and moved the ones from his into mine...

yeah, you should go ahead and buy the harness - you'll need at least
three of the wires from the factory harness - dash switch, mute switch,
and power antenna, and it's well worth the $12 to not cut the factory
harness. and yes, buy it with your DCI - you'll save the trouble of
modifying the off-the-shelf ones (which don't have the dash switch/mute
wires as other hondas don't need them).

The DVA-9861 supports Alpine's wired 'steering wheel remote', so the wired DCI should work.

Update: Modifry's DCI web site also lists DVA-9861 as compatible with the wired DCI.
