Default Should I do it?

I have been working on making my car's electronic system "perfect" and I have finally reached the last step.

I already have an Alpine CD/ DVD player as a head unit, combined with a customised touch screen monitor custom mounted on the dash.

I just got an estimate on adding the Alpine Navi system and ipod integation kit into the car.

The ipod integration kit would allow me to control the ipod via the touch screen. I will also have traffic updates on the navi as well as XM radio.

The entire install is running $2800.

Should I do it or is this too much and am I being too anal?

Yea, I guess that you're right. It's what I work my ass off for day in and day out. It's just money. If I don't spend it here, it will probably go to some chick whom I won't speak to in 12 months.

So you went to the trouble of installing an in-dash monitor and didn't get nav? Do it... The dash of an S2000 is one silly place for a DVD player. The only way it could be usefull is NAV, and the IPOD integration would be a bonus, if it wasn't as limited as the Honda head units ipod integration.

The whole idea of the screen was for the Navi. The Alpine head unit had to be purchased to work with the screen and it was just an extra $100 to get the DVD/CD player so why not?

You should do it and post pics of your install after it is done. Like they said, its your money and should do with it what you want. Good luck with the install.

I'm going to do it. And Cartunes in Roswell, GA is doing the install. I have heard good things about them and they seem really professional and knowlegable about Alpine products as well as the install process.

Although I don't "need" to spend this money, I'm going to do it to have the car of my dreams. I refuse to wait until I'm 50 to get my convertible!

Not sure how having this install makes this the car of your dreams

Have you checked in the electronics forum for more info on this? You can probably find people there that may have either done this (I'm pretty sure some people have), and what their thoughts on this is.

Sounds like a pretty nice setup. Congrats!!!
