Exclamation Should I get a 12 inch ?

I currently have the Infiniti Basslink 10inch and It sounds VERY clean but I think I want more because when I drive and Im popping the Vtec on he highway witht he top down the sound kinda dies...lol

Should I go with a 12inch Box ?

I want to have some good thump!

Or is it because the Basslink isnt pointed in the right direction ?

Basslink is OK, but not loud.... 12 will do you nicely though... or even a better 10 will sound better.

yea if you don't have enough air space, than the sub won't produce the correct pressure and won't sound right.

Truth is, thought, that unless you go with a grossly over-powered 12", you won't get much on the highway.

I do love my Image Dynamics 12. It has great response, great freq range, quite loud when I want it to be. But, at 65mph with the top down, I can tell it's there - but it's more of a subtle thing that you have to really look for.

Hmmmm what do ya think about 400rms >> ?

Probably one of those nice trunk savings box that they sell for our well on the side of the trunk.

I think it does have sopmething to do with the airspace as imdarkrider said because my friend has an 8 inch JL sub in a HUGE but that thing sounds like two 12's.

I was thinking of like punch p3's

I run a JL 500/1 to my 12. Probably tuned to about 400WRMS (rating on the IDQ 12).

I like it, I can tell when it's firing and when it's not. But then, I've always been pretty good at picking up low freqs that most people seem to miss...

But, that's me. It's all about what you want.

That 8" might be as loud as low power 12's, but...it's not going to hit the same low freq range that a well tuned 12 is going to hit - which may add to the appearance of more volume. Is your buddy's 8" mounted in an S2K?

Good luck in the S...lol

Get yourself an IDQ 12. They're great for small enclosures (something like <1 cu ft required). Throw some cotton batting in the enclosure (the stuff you find at walmart) and it'll act like a larger enclosure, give you a bit more bass
