Default So you wanna be an EJ heh? Navi Install

Finally, after 4 years, I have the navi solution Ive always wanted. The Alpine Navi. The holy grail of navis. Rated #1 for almost a decade.

First and foremost, you need to do A LOT of gutting....I needed to gut my entire interior AND trunk.
Sorry for the pics, its my cellphone, no camera at the time.....

Anywho, I did this in my friend's garage who was also doing an install on his RSX....

battle of the brands

First, gutted the interior.....

Be neat, keep track of everything....on a brand new poker table no less...

I dont care what any one else says, unless you can deal with this, you arent a true EJ

Finally, a little teaser, until I get the "official" pics.....

Everything went almost very well. John's molding job was amazing, everything fit like it was made to be there. Top quality work, from a top quality guy.

As for the install of it all, it took about 20 labor hours, but it would have been faster had I knew some things in advance. More pics to come....hopefully, tomorrow.

I guess I fall into the "Minimalist EJ" group - my system is not worthy, not worthy...

Nice work

Very nice Dave! I examined John's screen mount when I was at his house. It is sweet. I know you are totaly satisfied. Looking forward to checking it out at the dragon!!!

PS: If you think that is a spaghetti mess of wires, you should have seen it when I was putting in the computer

Do you have any idea how many components I have back there?

The navi, the XM traffic, the XM tuner, 2 amps, a dvd player, the brain for the monitor...each one with a harness with AT LEAST 10 wires...... I must have over 30lbs or wire in my car, probably closer to 50

Like the space shuttle.

XM traffic That is the one and only feature in the whole wide world that I wish my PC had but doesn't. Let me know how you like it!

Very nice....so you went with the monitor up top? wow

Maybe it's the angle of the pic but that monitor looks like it hangs a bit low, any blocked line of sight from the driver's seat?

I can only imagine what a cop would do if he was following you and you had your top down......hmmmmmmmmmmmm

Post more pics!

Nah, it doesnt obstruct my view at all. The default on the monitor will be my camera, which makes it a rearview mirror. If a cop decides to bust my balls, so be it. Having a rearview camera/monitor isnt illegal in NY, but most cops here are morons, so Ill be a headache....i dont really care though.
