Sony CDX MP70
Don't know any real details, but I found it here while shopping around. It sure looks good.

Hi there -- after drooling over this unit for a month or so, I finally found a source and ordered. Got it today, ran it to my installer, and he says it WON'T FIT! Door mechanism requires 3/4 inch of clearance on the bottom...more than we have to work with. Very disappointing...it's a sweet unit.
If anyone's interested, I have a brand new CDX-MP70 that I'd be happy to sell for what I paid ($399 plus shipping).

Was he talking about the door mechanism of the S2000, or does it have a motorized face plate? If it is just the S2000 radio door, it seem like custom mounting brackets could be made to make it sit a bit further back. That is the unit I am wanting to get, so I'll have to find out when I can afford to get one.
Yes, it IS compatible with S2Kman's amazing Dash Control Unit. And the photo just above this post illustrates the problem: the motorized faceplate comes down too far. The installation guide that came with the unit shows it as 3/4-inch. I measured, and my installer measured, and both agree that it's a no-go. This is one case that I'd love to be wrong, however.

Also, for what its worth, the very cool cd drawer comes out 4-7/8-inches. It would be VERY tight to be able to open the drawer in 1st, 3rd or 5th gears. I was willing to live with this, because I'm also putting in a 6-disc changer.

Does anyone have installation instructions for the S2K? (i.e. removal of the OEM stereo, harness wiring etc) TIA.
gohiking, what are you going to get now?

If you do a search, you should find removal/install instructions for the head unit. Or, Lucid or Pinky could help you.
For now, I've put in a Sony CDX-M610 -- a last year's model with solid performance and decent specs. Am not sure how it will end up...have run into some install issues with my current stuff.
