DEVICES:
Modifry Sony DCI
Modifry Speed Controlled Volume
Crutchfield 12AWG Amp wiring kit (1x inline fused positive 12AWG wire (red), 1x non fused negative 12AWG wire with ring terminal (black)
WIRING:
10x 18-24AWG Red Posi-Lock connectors (available for $10 when ordering your Modifry DCI)
2x 14-16AWG Blue Posi-Lock connectors (included in the Modifry DCI kit, for use with stock harness or 14AWG wiring kit)
2x 10-12 AWG Posi-Lock connectors (purchased separately, needed for use with Crutchfield 12AWG amp kit)
1x Spade Connector
STEP 1: HEAD UNIT HARNESS
Strip off ends of cables and connect to posi-lock connectors.
IF using the Crutchfield 12AWG amp wiring kit, you will require a larger posi-lock connector than provided by Modifry
The yellow and black power cables will require a larger yellow 12AWG Posi Lock than blue 14-16AWG ones provided in the Modifry set.
STEP 2: Sony Head Unit Harness TO Modifry Sony Adapter Harness
Match the cable colors bewtween the Sony head unit harness and the Modifry harness - wire em up.
STEP 3: DCI Testing
Here, I've temporarily wired up the yellow/black power cables to the harness (even though I'll be using the more robust Crutchfield 12AWG amp wiring kit with thicker cables).
I've also connected the DCI to program and test the dash controls.
You will need to use the 3.5mm cable to get mute working with this head unit.
STEP 4: DCI positioning
Place the DCI away from the back of the head unit. Modifry instructions mention it can get crushed or overhead if left behind the head unit.
I've placed mine to the right, attached with double sided velcro.
STEP 5: Connect Microphone and test.
I selected this mic position since it felt more out of the line of sight for me.
At this point, ALL your functionality should be working.
Dash controls (including mute button), Speed Controlled Volume, Microphone.
Step 6a: Crutchfield AMP wiring kit part 1
Sony head unit asks for 14AWG wiring or better. We use the Crutchfield amp wiring kit since it's thicker than required (12AWG) and includes an inline fuse.
Here, we cut off the end of the wire with the ring terminal and crimp a spade connector on.
Step 6b: Crutchfield AMP wiring kit part 2
According to the head unit instructions, the yellow/black power cables should be unswitched.
Given this, we want to wire the yellow cable on the head unit harness to the constant 40A fuse in the driver's side footwell fusebox.
Step 6c: Crutchfield AMP wiring kit part 3
I connect the grund wire from the head unit black wire to a ground on the passenger side.

Awesome, I’m in the middle of install on mine and this will come in handy. Waiting on the 14AWG inline fuse kit from Amazon to arrive. I have the Modifry PnP kit so will need to strip off the black and yellow wires from that and connect to the appropriate locations under the footwell.

Hope the writeup helps!
To clarify, the yellow/black wires should be connected from the head unit harness to the wiring kit.
The Modifry PnP harness has two black wires that come out of it.
One will remain unattached and the other will go to the DCI (which will then use the stock power connection)

Yes, it was definitely helpful!
In my case I see only one black wire from the PnP harness and Modifry has the DCI black cable spliced to it. My plan is to cut off the yellow and black cables before the blue connection (which plugs into the factory harness) and connect them to ground and 12V respectively as shown in the attached image. I think that should work but please let me know if you see any issues. Thanks again..!
Here's a diagram of how I've got mine wired up.
Of note....
1) I didn't need to splice anything for the DCI since its power is already provided by the factory harness connecting to the adapter harness.
2) The yellow and black wire should be connected from the Sony head unit side (black plug) to the new 12V/Ground... I think your diagram is saying that you want to connect the blue side to the new 12V/ground
Looking at the Modifry harness wiring schematic, it also shows that 12V Acc power and Ground are already provided to the DCI from the existing wiring.
Does your adapter harness also have the 4 wires going to the DCI? If so, you shouldn't need to splice to provide power.
Cool, thanks.. Yeah, I already have the 4 DCI wires connected to the Modifry harness, so I won’t need to make any connection. The ‘splice for DCI” comment in the image was meant to show the existing connection made by Modifry.

Good luck! Let us know how it goes.
If there's any clarification you think we should add to the guide, let me know - I'm all for it!
All done, thanks for all the pointers as they came in very handy! I ended up de-pinning the yellow and black wires from the Modifry PnP harness and connected the power using the 14AWG wire along with the Honda specific plug mentioned earlier in the thread - tried to use the 12AWG Crutchfield wire one but that was too thick for that particular plug. For the ground used the junction box on drivers side.
This thread was super helpful, appreciate the input all have provided to make things available to the community.
Just picked up both an 06 S2k and this head unit. Had to use the SWC Axxess DCI since modifry is sold out. Got everything working on the dash controls except the mute. Was curious how others have gotten it to work. I can't find a mute function on the head unit so I'm thinking it won't work but surprised to see above instructions saying it should.
Any feedback is much appreciated!
