Well this morning I finished my install and was stoked about getting to listen to it on the way to work (45min drive). I set up Pinky's mod as well, so that was pretty cool.

First off, the sound quality is great, I've got some Kenwood speakers in the doors now (left over, will probably get som sony 1621's soon) and the looks, although dated, still are pretty decent. I burnt an MP3 CD for the drive with 167 songs on it, some low quality compressed, and some high (160kb/s) quality. The low quality sounded pretty crappy and the high quality songs sounded really good. (go figure, but I was curious how much of a difference there would be).
Radio reception is definatley better than stock, which is a definate plus.

Now for the problem:
While listening to my MP3's, after about 5-10 mins, the deck will change modes and go to the radio, no matter what song is playing on the cd. The first time it happened, I thought maybe it was because of the road conditions or something, but the next time it happened was when I was at a full stop. Also, the first time I immediatley changed the mode back to MP3/CD and replayed the song from it's begining in it's entirity, the next time I left it on the radio mode and after about a min, it changed itself back to MP3/CD mode.
On the 45 min drive to work this happened 6 times.

Does anyone have any ideas? Pinky, do you thing this is due to your mod (no offense)? Tomorrow I'll disconnect Pinky's mod and see if it still happens, also I'm going to try and burn just a few high quality songs and see what happens.

Thank you!

Come to think of it, the mode button (on the dash) stopped working on the way to work...I think you may be on to something, unfortunatley, I don't know enough about the mod to drop the resistance...

dp,

I strongly feel it is the PAC unit, but by no means is it the fault of Pinky. As bb said, the resistance is your most likely culprit...whatever value Pinky used to program the unit and the resistance value you have on your dash controls may be too far apart. It's a simple fix...you merely need to reprogram the unit using YOUR dash controls. If Pinky didn't send along programming instructions, go to http://www.go2pac.com/flash1280.html and click on "App. Guides". Look for the programming instructions for the SWI-3 unit, and download the .pdf file.

That will most likely solve your problem.

Thanks MG-
I went out at lunch (5:00pm for me) and followed the PDF and re-did everything, I'll test it on the way home tonight and we'll find out, but for the 10+mins I was listening to it, it didn't do it.

the easiest way to check if it is your PAC unit is to cover the IR eye so it won't work at all. Then see if it switches modes on you. If it still does, I'm guessing that it might not like your burned cd very much.

Kick ass...the deck didn't change modes on the way home.
I just hope it stays that way!

Thanks a lot guys!
