space saving sound system
Hey all
New to this and my car. Happy with my headset but the rest Hmm. Questions to the floor
a) suggestions for an alternative headset with bluetooth?
b) small amp for under passenger seat?
c) door speakers?
d) subwoofer ( preferrable to mount behind a seat rather than in the boot)
I am into compact. Budget not being small but not above mid range.
Also is it worth taking it to a "pimp my ride" type workshop?
Ideal being everything in the driving compartment without having to redo all panelling.

This is the closest to what I have in mind but I would rather have the amp behind my seat or under the passenger seat.

Check this thread for the sub: https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/861...#entry22878576
Or search the forum for "sound ordnance". Also comb the threads to see what other setups people have used. Also, go to crutchfield.com for a wealth of reviews.
You can put the amp in the tire well. Some will be small enough to fit even with the tire in, but it's probably better to take the tire out. To each their own, but as long as you have a towing service, you'll probably don't need the tire (and you can save about 25lbs!)
As for you questions, briefly (since I'm also doing research on them now)
a) suggestions for an alternative headset with bluetooth?
-I used the alpine UTE-BT42 - it's an entry-level media player (no CD), but since all I use is BT, it's fine for my purposes.
b) small amp for under passenger seat?
-I would think a lot of would fit in this category especially the Alpine MRV (or the older MRP) mono- and 4ch- lines. I'm looking at a JL 400/4 and that looks pretty small too.
c) door speakers?
-Depends on your budget.
-Many folks here seem to like the Polk DB6501s ($150) as entry level components and you can pair them with Alpine Type S tweeters ($100). Haven't listened to them, so can't comment.
-HAT is also another popular brand
-and finally Focals. I'm currently looking at the P165v15 that come with components and tweeters for $400.
d) subwoofer ( preferrable to mount behind a seat rather than in the boot)
-It seems like you basically have one option, which is the Sound Ordnance / Boss Audio low profile one.

Some small full-range class D amps will fit under a seat - search "amp under seat".
Many more will fit above the fuel tank: amp above tank.
People have put small self-powered subs behind a seat, presumably with some loss of seat adjustment.
Another space-efficient sub option is Darkside's V1 box

Bits bought yesterday. Polk DB 6501 speakers ( come with crossovers and tweeters ), Boss Diablo 10" sub and a xetec p2 evo amp. Reading a lot of forums and it does seem to favour rear fit on the amp. Fat mat bought also as I want to soundproof the cabin from below and the sides.
