Default Speaker failure

Has anyone had any problems with one speaker or even two failing when running the stacker? With mine ('99Aust) its the driver side. Honda replaced the speaker for me cos they thought that was the prob but it kept on. Then the other day he tried to tell me that it was cos the Honda stacker didnt like my burnt cd's.......Not the case. It seems to work fine on radio.

Any suggestions/ solutions?

I know that part has got to be false, maybe it's an electrical problem.

So this is what I get from your store..

No sound from the driver side speaker, when using the OEM CD Changer (stacker).

Sound when using the OEM Headunit. No problems ever.

If the above is correct. Here is where a problem can be..

1. The CD-Changer has a short internally, and needs to be replaced.
2. The harness between the CD Changer and the headunit has a break into.

My guess whould be the later (2). Looking at the USDM installation guide, the harness runs from behined the drivers seat and along the driver side of the center console, under the carpet. I would trace the harness from one end to the other and look for some type of ware or friction marks.

This is quite a common flaw. i had it in my former black 2000 S2k but i corrected it by writing the car off and getting a new one

A friend also had the problem and after 3 trips to the dealer and having all audio components replaced it was finally repaired.

I dont supposed they managed to narrow down to what the problem was? Im waiting to change my door speakers but I knnow as soon as I do they'll just blame it on that but I've already had my three trips to the dealer and one speaker replacement!

It took the Honda morons three go's at correcting it.

First they replaced the speakers,

then the stacker

finally the head unit.

So it probably was the head unit.

I have a friend in HSCC-QLD trying to get the CD player in his CRV fixed but after several trips to the local Honda dealer they don't know what the problem is and are saying that they can't help him.

Furthermore Steve Beach the Customer Relations manager for Australia is not even acknowleging or replying to his e-mails.

Well I spoke to my Honda dealer and hes gonna talk to HA about getting the head unit but from what he tells me once they put in a repair under warranty if they get it wrong its their fault and any future repairs are at their costs. Will definitely be pushing it through though if I'm gonna upgrade my speakers I want them to be getting use!

BTW thanks for the help I'll post any updates in the future.

My Honda dealer finally replied to me this morning about my problem after a month of waiting.

Honda Australia have agreed to cover the labour costs only and I would have to pay for the parts for a new stacker. He tells me that it is up to HA and not himself and then offered me their excuses.

First was that it was close to the end of my warranty and therefore not necessarily covered. Naturally I was not impressed with this and questioned why the warranty claimed 3yrs and not 2yrs 11months???

Then he tells me its a wear item. BS what do the wires corrode inside their coating?

My theory is as I mentioned earlier once they get it wrong once they don't want to cover the correction.

I fought the urge to abuse this guy b/c it seems like hes just the messenger and appeared to agree with my opinion that it was all BS. But he did give me the number for HA service and hopefully they'll change their tune.

After all this I thought id still question what the deal was with my clutch buzzing, he still insists that it is only a problem with the 2nd gear and that i should take their foreman for a ride to show him.

After the relatively simple stereo problem I think I'll be approaching a different Honda dealership to represent me.

Dhess, any tips on who to avoid at HA?

What he said. Problem is not the speaker but the changer or the cable between the changer and the radio.

Sorry to hear about your frustration Austblue.

What fvcking morons.

The guy at the dealer must be a complete and utter sh!thead!

With relatively inexpensive items such as audio components it is up to the the dealers discretion and generally does not require a prior work approval from HA.

You could just ask to speak to the GM of the dealership and tell him to resolve your problem or you will bad mouth his dealership on S2Ki a club of over 13000 members.

Audio components being wear items? what will they think of next?
I wouldn't bother dealing with anyone at HA. They are all incompetent morons who have no idea about customer service. Just tell them you have heard about all the other people who have been screwed around by them and you fully intend on joining the cause against them.

You can also post a complaint in the automotive forum of www.notgoodenough.org

PS Say hi for me to HA
