I have a 2005. There are drivers at the front bottom of each door. tweeters at the front top (inline with the ac vents) of each door. I believe there is also a driver behind each seat.
Most important it is the worst sound placement and speakers i have heard in any automobile i have ever driven in. But who wants a good radio in a roadster anyway.

I wouldn't rebuild with another stock system, the newer year models are slightly nicer, but not worth the expense of 'upgrading' to them. I have a custom audio system with an alpine head unit, a reasonably sized amp, new middle-low speakers in the door, and custom tweeters on the A-Pillars. It works really well, and I would recommend it over any of the stock systems.

My 07 has the drivers in the lower front door, tweeter towards the door, and there are 2 speakers in each roll bar now. One on each side of the hoop of each roll bar. I am not sure if there are any more than that. It sounds decent, but I too need a lil more oomph to the system.

Here is the real question, how does the bass sound when you guys mount the subs in the trunk? Does it sound good through the rear firewall?

no, the best and most noticeable change would be the HU, there's no point to amperfy the crap singal from the stock HU, i think it's rated at 15 watt max x2/4 with the aweful RMS.

Depending on the model year, the speaker setup is different.. I'm pretty sure the stock system is different between '00~'01, '02~'05, and '06 and up..

I have upgraded my head unit, components, added an amp and a small sub where the tool kit was. I'm not trying to win any spl contest..just want a little more punch on the low end... and adding a sub definitely did that for me.

(I'm also moving this thread to Electronics btw...their are many people in this forum that can give you great advice and share their experience with different setups)
