Default Speaker opinion

I've searched through quite a few topics on this. I've pretty much narrowed down my choice in speakers for my 06 to the focal 165's or the hat imagines. I'm looking for opinions on these speakers. How do they sound just off an aftermarket head unit? And if I should get an amp for these what amp also? Thank you in advance, looking to make a purchase to I got some nice speakers to crank the stereo once the polar vortex leaves Long Island.

Depends on your budget and what your end game is.

I'm looking to spend 300 on speakers. I haven't don't too much research on amps. But if I'm going with hat imagines, what amp would be good for those.

Another question. First time running an amp for door speakers. Should I run new wires to the doors or just re use the stock ones? And if so whats the proper size gauge wire?

Are you talking about the 165kr? If you are they retail for 580+ a pair and if you buy them off ebay you may end up with a counterfit pair

Also they are not full range speaker and you will be missing the low end and they should be runned of good amp with good speaker wire

I have runned them on 3 different install they are a great sq speaker that will play loud and the inverted dome tweeter is amazing

They will be picky on placement and can be compensated via the crossover for mid range compensation and tweeter volume

Also if you buy them online focal will not honour there warranty and they must be bough straight from a focal dealer

Hope this helps

No I'm looking at the less expensive focals. I'm teetering between the Hat imagines and the focal 165's that are around 300.

IMO you can't compare an aftermarket deck to an amped setup. 17-20 rms vs. 50-70 rms

True and another thing you can also do you can ditch the crossovers and run a 4 chan amp in a active setup for even better result
(1 chan per tweeter 1 chan woofer) just saying
