Default Speaker suddenly stopped working

Basically I turned on my radio this morning and the front and rear speakers didn't come on. The tweeters work perfectly and the amp light is on and green. I disconnected to faceplate and restored the unit to factory settings to rule out any fader issues. None of theses have solved the problem. I have no idea where to go from here. I have custom rear speakers and components installed in the front as well as a sub in the trunk. They are powered by a JL XD 700/5. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.

if your tweeters work the problem should be somewhere from the crossover to the speaker. check for loose wiring, test each speaker with the source input to the crossover. if it works then its the crossover.

Or it could be a loose connection at the speaker. That's what happened to mine. I ended up soldering the wire to the speaker terminal.

Can one bad/loose wire connection cause four speakers to stop working? Also say I find that the connections are tight on each speaker what should I go to next? My Front speakers are ran through the crossovers but the rears are not. It is extremely weird that both front and rear just stopped out of no where.

there are generally 4 possibility, wiring, head unit, amp or speaker. there are many ways to test them, i like to use a test speaker and check the signal starting from the head unit all the way to the speaker.

Ah I think I misread. It would still depend on how you have it wired up, but (assuming typical wiring) it is unlikely that a connection at the speaker would cause them all to go out.

My method would be to start at the source (headunit) and work your way down the line, Headunit>Amp>Crossover>Speakers, checking the wiring between each as well as each component. A multimeter is your best friend here.
