Default Speaker wire

So. many people have mentioned to upgrade speaker wires. When I talked to someone who works on car audio installation, they told me that S2k's come with 16 gauge wire from the factory and it should be sufficient enough to deliver power. Is there really a huge gain from upgrading wires? I plan on getting an amp for the HAT speakers I am about to purchase so I need to decide on the wiring kit I need to buy.

Thanks guys

Can't speak for newer cars, but AP1s certainly didn't have 16ga (and I doubt AP2s do).
Knowledgeable people have said they are 20ga, which sounds about right to me.
www.bcae1.com has lots of good info about wire sizing and many other topics.

I used this:

http://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-...f+speaker+wire

Got it while it was on sale and its OFC. I used 12 gauge btw.
Pushing about 300w to my components and 500w to my sub.
I used MediaBridge brand but cant seem to find it.
