Default Speakers and amp installation instruction

After a year of driving with the stock system I've decided to upgrade the speakers. I need your help with the installation, amp and speakers, and as well as choosing the speakers and amp. Which is the best available out there? I don't want to spend more than $1000 on these. TIA.

for a 1000, you can get an amp, speakers, and head unit.

Mine, i have a sony amp 75x2 (ebay $89) CDT speakers $150(thezeb.com), Lucid DCI $100 and mount kit/with dethp kit/ and baffles $65 (lucidautomotive.com), alpine CDA-7893 ($150 used from member), and cables $20.... Cheap! oh and of course self installed.

$540 plus my time.

how difficult is the self-install? running the wires and all. From scale of 1 to 5, 5 is most difficult. How would you rate the installation of speakers and amp? BTW, what kind of wires should I get?

3.5. The hard part of the install is running wires. there is actually a very detailed 'how-to' in the stickies in this forum (pics too!). getting the speakers (depending on the speakers) to mount properly in the doors (and have the windows roll all the way down) can be tricky too. The only wires you need are an 8 gauge 12v line from the battery to the amp, any wire for the REM line (for HU to amp), 2 good RCA lines for the amp to HU, and some decent speaker wire (18 ga.?)
