You really need to go listen to them yourself. I have the Alpine SPX series in my car... for a little while longer but that sound great. However they sound great to me. But just because I like them doesn't me you will. You really should go to a shop and give them both a listen with your favorite music.

That is ideal.

I am running the new Kappa co-axials in my truck so maybe I can help some. First they are 2 ohm speakers. Second is that they have an extremely high sensitivity. Those are the main reasons I chose them. They get insanely loud on very little amp. As far as sound goes the midbass is strong. Not the strongest I've heard but better than most. The highs are pretty relaxed. They won't ever cause fatigue surely but they don't stand out enough to give you great detail. Remember that I have the co-ax's and the components might come with better tweeters. Everything else sounds pretty balanced. Oh, one more thing, they have neo magnets so they are very compact in the back for good clearance and they are very light weight.

You'll need to amp the Kappas. With a quality deck and amp, they sound really nice.

Be more specific....are you talking about the Kappa Perfects, or just Kappas?

Both are nice....Kappas have better high range, while the Alpines have better midbass.

If you listen to electronic music, the Kappas are a better choice. If you are more of a hiphop fan, then the Alpines are for you.

Just as John said, you need to go to a shop and listen. I chose the Polk Audio SR6500's after listening to Focal's and Boston's. Its all in what your ear likes.

i'd go type x's if you were looking at getting the type Rs.

you can get them for around 180-215 online, depending on warantees.
