Default Speakers which fit in the OEM baskets...

If anyone knows which do fit, i'd be interested to know!

I'm sure it would be useful to list them for other people too.

Even if you had to cut out the back of the basket, it still makes fitting much easier than MDF rings and all that stuff.

So, fire away

I can start by saying that 6.5" Alpine SPE-17SF do not fit....

Boston Acoustics 6.5" SR and SL series components fit, if you cut out the back of the speaker baskets. Also Infinity Reference 6.5" components fit. Focal Access 6.5" components do NOT fit.

The Infinity REF6030 fit but you do have to cut the back of the basket to for the magnet. The tweeter mounting system works great with the factory tweeter mounts:

Alpine SPS600C fit if you cut the basket. The tweeters fit perfectly with the casing on and the mid woofers fit fine with basket cutting.

The polk db6501 component speakers fit w/o any cutting. I just installed them in my car and they went in easy, and I'd say the sound quality is pretty good. Just wanted to add them to the list. Has anyone fabricated any kind of "shield" for the back of the speakers when cutting/replacing the stock basket?

Reason I ask is I just helped a friend replace the woofers for his diamond audio components because they were seized (yes, the woofers were completely seized). The rain/water that gets in the doors looks to have did a number on them over time. Now, I believe they are around 6 years old, but still, something to keep in mind. Perhaps it's a small price to pay for larger woofers/better sound and they can simply be replaced after so many years..
