Stereo keeps shutting down...
Wondering if I could pick some of the smart minds in the community. I've got a MY00 with an aftermarket Alpine deck and RF Amp...
Not all of the speakers are currently connected, I disconnected the rears behind the seats (Lucid) and the sub, so I've just got my components up front.
Recently I've been having issues where, the stereo will shut off and come back on while driving, sometimes right away, sometimes after 5-10 min, When this happens, I notice the car's electrical system goes a little haywire, instances where the lights on the dash will flicker, it almost seems as if the car's electrical system is shuttin down and comes back
The other day, I turned off the head unit and noticed it happened again even without the stereo on. Not sure if the amp is on or not in this case... I guess I could check...
Any idea what could be going on? I'm wondering if the unconnected speaker wires are shorting out???
Thanks in advance...

It depends on how the amp was wired as to wether the amp would shut off when the radio is turned off. It does sound like an alternator issue. To take the amp out of the equation so to speak, remove the fuse on the main power wire to the amplifier. It should be located close to the battery. If the issue persists then it does sound like an alternator issue.
Is your amp powering your components? If they are try bypassing the amp directly to the deck... see if that changes.
If it still persists, Try driving around after your try each of these
1. Disconnect fuse from amp power cable under the hood and (if applicable) in the trunk near battery.
2. Verify your remote lead wire is in healthy condition. (this produces about a 12v switch for your amp and seen some get pinched and pierced causing a short)
3. check fuse in back of deck, if bad replace
4. Behind the deck, verify all your RCA cables and wires are connected securely to the deck or connected with snow caps/butt connectors. Verify your ground is actually being grounded. (no exposed copper wires)
5. Make sure your illumination wire is attached to the correct cables.
6.When in doubt, remove the stereo, drive around, see if your electrical goes haywire. Try a new deck (could have a short inside). you can also try checking your speakers.
