My car has a little over 2K miles on it -- yesterday the standard issue CD player started skipping -- I thought it was the CD -- but tonight a cd fresh from the case did the same thing - it is so bad that it skips on a nearly level street if I accelerate a bit.

Anyone else have problems with their stock CD player such as this ??

Sorry but I gotta ask...are you sure you are not putting your fingers on the disc when you insert it....it is awkward?

Nope -- I am not fingering the disk; by the way that new movie ("Freddy Got Fingered") got really LOUSY reviews (not that I would see it anyway)...

This morning I will try a second brand new CD fresh from the case and see if it makes a difference. I suspect a loose or misaligned head in the the cd unit. I had a similar problem with one of my other cars (Ford Expedition)-- after the unit was changed - the problem was solved.

A related question: I am looking at Blaupunkt head units. None of them have anti-skip memory; has anyone used one in their S2K to see if it can stand up to our suspension?

Any good/bad comments on Blaupunkt in general?

Thanks,
Tanq

I actually have had the stock changer skip on me as well a few times. There somtimes are screws that you can adjust on some units that allow you to increase the "play" in suspension of the unit. I havn't had the chance to check it out on this one yet.
