Is one elemental designs 8" sub enough? I like more clarity but sometimes i play some rap so I'd like good thumbbthass if it's needed.

Seal enclosures generally won't give you the boomyness that a ported one will. The base is really tight with the Wlaurant enclosure. The volume is plenty loud for me, with my amp anyways. If you build a ported enclosure in the tool area of the trunk go with the 10" elemental. Just make sure you have plenty of power. Wlaurant tested the Xtant 403 and it pumped out about 320w rms from the mono channel even though the amp is only rated @ 200w rms @ 2ohms.

No disrepect in your expertise b0mbrman, but the world "generally" doesn't translate to a conclusion.

Heh heh...I lack any sort of expertise ...

But at the same time, I wouldn't want anyone scared away from a ported enclosure with a car of untested properties because of what "generally" occurs.

I'm sure you can imagine that an S2000 at speed might have more sonic characteristics in common with a large listening room than other cars will.

Like I said before, I have yet to see the transfer function graph of an S2000 but in a Mazda Miata, the transfer function with the top up is around 50% greater than that with the top down, from 50 Hz on down--note that Miatas also have soft tops so expect this transfer function to be far less than that of metal-roofed cars.

Hmmm...I'm not sure how to end this post

Anyhow, you're living the same dream I am: Driving an S2000. Therefore, you know that in all respects (to include the stereo), the S2000 is an anomaly--a complete paradigm shift in regard to what premises will lead to a favorable conclusion.

Nothing "general" applies

One issue I have with just the stock headunit is that since there's no EQ memory function, I have to manually adjust the treble level when I raise my windows with the top down. Since I notice a increase in the treble levels if I raise my windows with the top down vs having them down I tend to lower the treble 1 notch if I raise the windows. Plus with the speaker upgrades, I tend to notice some defects in the mp3's that I burned as audio CD's. So now I'm thinking of upgrading my headunit as well. Doh! At least there's enough info on this site to make that a DIY job so I'll save some money. (jingle bells jingle bells, jingle all the way...)
