Default Sub box instead of a convertible top........

I just had my convertible top taken completely out. I was originally doing this so that I could save some weight. After seeing it out, I realized that there is an incredible amount of room for a sub box. I have a hardtop, so I never used the soft top anyway. Anyone have any ideas or seen this done before, or am I the first to take this radical step?

I don't think m777erlin removed his top, but look for a thread of his trunk. Beautiful work.

Do it!

Fiberglass the whole thing and put in a sub the rest of us only dream about (Though you might have some depth issues)

And watch your ears...that thing'll be about a foot from your head

Maybe something that doesn't pound but sounds smooth like Focal or Morel subs?

Or if you're on a budget and want to be original, I suggest getting six of these :

Whatever you do, post pics

I did it already, pics tonight. No soft top, but I have race harnesses that go into the trunk and I do not know how to fiber glass so I did a single 10" solobaric and I am having a "floormat" looking trunk mat custom made to cover the hole where the trunk well was. No spare tire and there is plenty of room there.

I figured the spare would have to go. I am not sure how to make it look clean when done. Maybe using the tanau cover as a mold....or some other type of cover, like the veilside or viper style.

if you put a full system in there you will just be adding the weight back on.

I already have a full system in my trunk, so I will just be relocating it to that area, and I should keep the system weight about the same, so I will still be a little lighter. In addition, I will be moving the weight more towards the center. But that is a good point for someone doing it simply for weight savings. In my case, I never used the top, as I could not stand the plastic window. Now I will be able to get my trunk back, so I can put my clubs in there.

I have not yet weighed all the parts taken out, but my quess would be more like 80-90, and that is with a plastic window, the glass should be more.
