Default Sub on the cheap (without an amp) possible?

Hey guys,

It may be a dumb question. But is there any way I can add a small sub to my Alpine 9835 Headunit without adding an amp. I know the HU has build in amp.

Any suggestions?

your headunit pumps out 4x26w RMS and most subs require about 50w minimum but more like 100w to sound good.

How about this:

Kenwood KSC-WA62RC Woox

Someone on the electronics section here just installed one. He said it is great.

Install the sub from an RSX-S. They are always around, generally 25-35 - Got mine for $28 shipped I think. They have a built in amp. I ran the lead from my 9835, tapped the power from the battery lead to the 9835 (you aren't running off stock power right?), and it is a nice fill-in. Aim the port at the driver seat - you can really feel it!

Oh, sounds like a great idea.

Where can I find one? Do you mean putting in under the seat.

How about the passenger side then?

How can you secure that under the seat?

Thanks!

I assume you were talking about the RSX Spare tire sub. It goes in your spare tire, behind the passenger seat. You aim the port at at the drivers seat. Both are covered.

I have seen them for sale here, on ebay, and on rsxclub.com. Don't pay more than $35!

Thomas - I forgot that I had one of these bose rsx subs in my yellow car - it sits in your spare tire - it's a 4 inch self powered sub

here's a link

the bass was ok but nothing compaired to my new one

it's an ok mod for fifty bucks but not more..

Oh, no doubt! For the money though, it is pretty quick and easy. Oh, make sure you take off the top cover plate too!
