Yes, all those rockfords are done. The new subs are those futuristic looking space things. There is still plenty of overstock left everywhere online though.

You can get the HX2 on ebay relatively cheap, 250 rms may be a little on the low side though. I recently bought one and was planning on running 300 to it. I was told on the forum here thuogh that they're rated at 400 rms but can handle upwards of 500-550. Let me know if you can't find any, i may be willing to part with mine for what i paid for it.

depends upon where you buy it i think.... though, the argument has been made a few times that no matter where you buy it, the company is obligated to warranty it.

all in all though, the 8" HX2 wasn't replaced. as best i can tell, the Stage 3 subs are the HX2 equivalents, but there is no Stage 3 offering in 8".

and just because a speaker is rated for xxx Wrms doesn't mean it HAS to have that power run to it...

if you want to maximize your output, sure it's great to send right at or a little more (still less than 125%) of the max rated continuous power... but it isn't necessary.

possibly...

or you could gamble and hope that someone releases a high power handling 8" w/ a 2 ohm total load...

the best person to ask about this sub is probably WLaurent... shoot him a PM. he had a lot of experience with these.
