I'm thinking about doing the same thing to my Top well. But my interior is all red and I think putting down felt would give it an undesirable look. Just curious what color you interior is... I can't wait to see pics of the finished product.

My idea is to drill holes into the tub & make some sort of pattern with the hole's. I figure that might let more of the sound through and still look really good.

Does anyone know how much it would cost to get replacement panels if it does turn out the way I would have liked?

I'm still in the brainstorming stage so I won't have pic's anytime soon.
Thanks

I have a black interior -- and since my installer is using grill-cloth, I'm sure he can get any color you want.

Drilling holes to make it look like a "speaker" is an option, but once you start pounding your sub in the trunk, that may cause rattles in the long run. When we were looking at the optimal solution, we were looking for a non-rattling piece that would still send the most bass directly into the cabin. Hence the cutout and grill-cloth cover to achieve both goals, plus the "stealth look".

One key piece to remove to vent in more bass is the plastic 2-piece that our tops rest on when we go top-down.

I'm sorry I didn't get your IM Scott -- I was in a meeting...

As for removing and re-installing the "tub", my installer took it out in a flash! I'm sorry, but I wasn't examining how he did it, but I know he removed a certain number of clips. I'll take not of these clips during the re-install and let you know!

I am stuck with the same question.. do I want two eights or one 10???

If I did two eights it would be one on the left side in custom box and one in right side of trunk in custom box like a felllow s2000er did.. if I went 10 I would prolly put it in the center... what do you guys think?

I was arguing the same question, but my installer assured me that one good 10" will pound harder (stronger and clearer in terms of SQ and SPL) than two 8"s....now, I've never heard two 8"s in our car, but I'm definitely very happy with my 10"!!

If you do mount 8" in the cubby holes on the side of our trunks, make sure you're getting enough box volume for the subs...

I got one 10" in the tool well in a custom ported box. You can't fit 2 10"s in the "cubby holes" on the side of the trunk, but you might be able to do it in the tool well if you fiberglass seal the entire tool well. But 2 8"s have fit in the "cubby-holes".
