Default Subwoofer reccomendation?

Here's the deal, i have a Soundstream Edge 4220 amp waiting to be installed, two channels will be running a set of Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1's at 110x2, the other two channels will be bridged to 440x1 for a subwoofer. I'd like to go with an 8" sub and use wlaurents enclosure, but are there any 8's that can handle this kind of power for a reasonable price?

also, how will the system sound with just the kappas? I'm trying to decide whether i want to install them all at once, or go ahead and install what i have now, and worry about the sub later.

for refrence, i listen to allll kinds of music, from hip hop, to rock, to emo, to country...all help would be GREATLY appreciated...thanks guys.

actually, i just realized that 2 ohm 8's aren't too common (or so it looks) so a reccomendation for a sub that will work well with this amp at 220@4 ohms of 440@2 ohms would work. thanks guys.

The Elemental Designs e8a is 2 ohm (4 ohm DVC) and will easily handle that wattage

For a 4 ohm SVC sub - look at the new Rockford P28S4 (200 rms 400 Peak) the the Polk MOMO 8" (Also 200 rms 400 Peak)

The Kicker Comp VR 8" is rated at 200 RMS 400 Peak. You could get a 2 OHM DVC (for a 4 ohm setup) or a 4 ohm DVC for a 2 ohms setup.

Thanks for the help. How much is shipping on your enclosure to Richmond, VA?

Would 2 ohm or 4 ohm sound better? Basically, elemental design e8a vs. the RF P28S4

Yeah, what would you suggest for my situation? the Punch or the elemental? knowing that i'll have 440x1 at 4 ohms or 1x220 @2 ohms. not sure how the DVC effects things either... what will the difference be?

the impedence (resistance) has nothing to do with how it sounds... it's just a measured parameter of the sub.

also -- based on what i see on Soundstream's site, the Edge 4220 will make 440 Wrms x 1 @ 4 ohms, not 2 ohms. i don't think it is mono stable at 2 ohms when bridged...

so, you need to find a 4 ohm (total load) sub that can handle 440 Wrms.

i think some of the upper RF subs will do this as well as Eclipse's 8" sub.

Hrm, I was just seeing that it does 220x4 @ 2 ohms, would it be reasonable to run 110x2 for the components, and then just use the other two channels to run 2 8"'s at 220 each at 2 ohms? is that possible?

sorry, i'm a n00b.
