Default subwoofer wiring

Ok so if I have a sub that has dual 2-ohm voice coils, and an amp that is 1 ohm stable (1 ohm x 2), how can I wire the sub to be 1 ohm?

I saw this: http://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_c...ns.asp?Q=1&I=22

BUT the amp can only be bridged down to 2-channels. Is there anyway to make this work? Could i bridge the amp and then run a negative and positive to each voice coil?

Can I just pretend the amp is mono and run both positives like the one positive in the above diagram and do the same thing with the negative?

Thanks for any advice!

Wire the voice coils in parallel (+ to + and - to -), that will give you a 1ohm overall load.

Or another way (electrically the same) is wire each pair of voice coils to the feedthru posts in the enclosure - i.e. VC1+ and VC2+ are both wired to the + feedthru post and VC1- and VC2- are both wired to the - feedthru post.

Speaker terminals - the feedthrus? Those are easy. Go to Radioshack, pick them up for around $4.99 or something. Take a pencil and trace the inside diameter onto the enclosure. Have some fun with your router. Trim the opening to fit. Use some weather stripping from Home Depot or Lowe's on the outside seating surface and some caulk on the inside to seal.

Still debating what 12" to get? Or you already have one?

yea, speaker terminals = feedthrus. i was lookin for them online and shipping murders the price, so i'll head over to check out radioshack this week.

i've had a 12 in that unfinished box for a while, so i'll finally get to test it out.

for the caulk, is silicone gasket sealer good enough? i have some left over from last time i changed my headlight diffusers.

I dont' know how well that will seal to wood (using fiberglass enclosure?)

I just used DAP Silicone general purpose caulk (like the stuff you'd use for your windows). It's actually quite inexpensive - esp if you just pick up a small bottle.

are u running 2 subs or 1..
if ur running 1 then u can make it 1ohm easily..
if ur running 2 then wiring in parallel like the guy said would give u 1/2 a ohm which would probully burn ur amp in the long run..
