Thats a pretty general question. Try the electronics forum. Be ready to say what kind of sub and amp you would like and how much you want to spend.

What do you have now for your system? stock? How much do you want to spend? The gear ranges from cheap (in quality and price) all the way up to a mortgage payment.

Werd...thats a really general question. What are you looking for, and what do you want to spend on the install/sub?

Also, whats the rest of your system consist of?

i bought my car used with everything still stock. so yes i only have the stock system. sorry my question was so general, i don't know anything it. i just dont want a system that will take up my whole trunk. i also have no idea about price. i estimated like $600. my friend got really nice alpine subs and amp for $370 used. but he said that was exceptional... so i really have no idea.

Well you really can't add a sub to your stock HU. For a few reasons but most importantly you have no rear channels to use.
If your going to add an amp you'll need to change your HU. You can get an aftermarket one or if you really like the look of the stock setup then you can upgrade to a 2004 model stock HU so you'll have the rear channels to use for the sub channel.

Not exactly true. I had a and amp on my stock hu for a while before I got an Alpine. They have that adapter that converts the speaker wires into rca outputs. It will sound better with the aftermarket unit. It depends on what your looking for, a real loud system or something like a bose sounding system. For under 1000 you should be able to get some door speakers, amp, head unit, and subs. None of it will be top of the line, but it will do.

Yeah but you need a set of rear channels to do that. His HU doesn't have a set of rear channels Yours does.
