Default 'super' 8 inch subs...

for anyone looking for a cheaper alternative to the JLW7 8inch subwoofer (which they still make right) and one that fits into a smaller box here you go.

that little one on the left is the elemental designs e8a the one on the right is the super e8a. different applications but still a bada$$ sub. more info here

http://forum.soundillusions.net/showthread.php?t=28560

also the e8a is on sale at edesignaudio.com, normal price is $185 and the current sale price is $145, which is an awesome price for this sub.

sorry about this post, i love mine so much i'm trying to spread the word! and i know some people are looking at this sub.

Well awww, isn't this just a cute, little picture?

For the guys doing crazy 8's they probably are just now finding their dream sub.
And that's what it's for

If someone gave me one of these, I'd make a false floor over my existing box in the spare tire well and turn that box into the giant port this sub is gonna need

Then, I'd make another cube above that so it looks like this 8" fits in a tiny sealed box.

Then I'd put 1000 watts to it and blast it! Then people would say "Hey jerkoff, turn down that 15 in a gigantic ported box!"

And I'd open up my trunk and say "Nope! It's just a sealed 8"

Then we'd both have a good laugh.

I imagine the novelty of that would last about a week...then I'd go back to my 12

yeah, looking at the box options for that i guess it's the type of sound you're looking for...

i mean, do you go for this super 8 in a 1cF vented enclosure or do you go with a 12a in a 1cF sealed one?

but you can put this super 8 into a vented enclosure as small as .5cF

i'd get one if i had an amp that could push enough power into 4ohms, but alas i do not. and at $250, another $50 would get you a e12a, so it is a special application. but if you don't have the space...

Yeah, but a 0.5 cubic feet enclosure tuned to 25 Hz. Imagine the size of the port on that thing

the e8a for $145 is a great deal... i keep trying to talk my wife into letting me put a ported one in her car... she keeps saying no, but then complains that she can't feel her bass. sigh. apparently, not only am i a closet bass-head, my wife is too...

yeah, i saw the super 8" a while ago... pretty impressive and insane... did they decide to produce them??

That's exactly what I was thinking

Pass the e8a on to her and grab yourself a "super" e8a

I'm sure you could tweak it and do better, but first pass through the spreadsheet looks like with a small box and an impossibly long port you can get a flat response down to 40Hz. But it also shows that it takes 500 watts to make 110dB, and at that input power you exceed the drivers Xmax as soon as you go below 100Hz. Even at 100W input, Xmax is exceeded below 60Hz. Too bad.

I saw some 6 inch 'subs' too. Would any of these be able to be installed behind the seats in the s2000 a la lucid style?
