Default Switch Suggestions for Fog Lights

I just ordered the PIAA 1100X SUPER WHITE DRIVING LAMP SYSTEM. Now I am trying to decide where to mount the switch for them. If anyone either has done this or has been thinking about doing it, I want your suggestions on where to mount a switch. Maybe even what kind of switch you used. Thanks in advance.

Do you want to be able to control them independently from your headlights? If not, just use the existing headlight switch to flip a relay to power the fog lamps.

I thought about that, and it is still a possibility. I was just wanting to see / know if anyone has done a switch, as I would rather be able to turn them on and off.

I have some PIAA lights (X1's i think) in my old car, and the switch is kind of ugly. I would try mounting somewhere out of sight if you can.

I used a wire I had run into the cabin from an earlier installation and found the driving lights hot wire (a fused red/black wire in the harness in the door sill). This wire is only hot when the driving lights are on (either "on" light positions). Connected this via a switch to the wire running thru the firewall to a relay which switches the battery-hot-wire to the foglight. This setup gives me a fused power, lights-on warning configuration. Also, I don't have to remember to turn it off separately from the car lights. You can operate the foglights without the headlights by using the first position of the combination light switch.

The switch itself was mounted on the trim panel to the left of the steering column. It's out of sight, next to my switch for the second horn. Didn't care to look at another switch.

I was thinking of something this weekend that might require a switch, found a nice looking low profile one with a little LED on it at AutoZone, I was thinking of mounting in the rear wall of the change pocket in front of the arm rest (assuming there's space back there)

Thanks for all of the feed back.

daddysqurr: I do have an aftermarket radio, but I also have the PAC switch utilizing the side cdontrols.

fmah: Do you have any pics of your switches. I was trying to imagine where you put them. It sounds good to me though.

tkeedy: How small are we talking? Your idea interests me also. On a side note, all my family lives in Fairhope. We should hook up for a bay way run some time when I'm down that way.

Please keep the suggestions coming. I will be making a decision soon. Thanks.

Here they are (circled in yellow). Out of sight. Not bumped by the knees. Not visible in normal driver's sitting position but easy to reach. Plenty of space behind it for wiring. Close to fuses, harnesses. Switches are from Radio Shack. They sell all kinds (long handle, short handle, push-button). You can even make a panel if you wish, since there is a broad, flat area at this location. The button to the right is the switch for the security system (Honda).
