So last week I got my system hooked up. However, when it came time to mount the amp, my installer told me the only way he could do it is to vertically mount the amp if I didn't want to lose the spare and tools. this would require drilling into the frame and cutting up the trim for wires...I didnt like that idea so we havent mounted the amp yet. I am starting to lean towards just buying the Alpine PDX and switching it now so i can stuff the amp in over the gas tank

my question is, will the Alpine PDX4100 be noticeably weaker than the hifonics zxi6406??

i got the hifonics for $170 shipped, but i kinda regret not spending the extra $130 to get the alpine. Had i gotten the alpine initially, i would not have needed to spend more money on the amp mount.

 

I don't know anything about the Hifonics, but the PDX amps are normally about 20 watts underrated. Usually around 120 watts per channel, so bridged it would be 240 watts roughly (look at the info sheet in the box). The great thing about the PDX amps is that they give the same power at either 2 or 4 ohm resistance, and it can fit under the drivers seat.

 

i put my pdx amp over the spare tire
