William, thanks for the good news! Lately, I've had a ton of trouble with my IPS, so I'm not surprised they are now bouncing e-mails too.

Thanks for the info on the PG amps. I've checked out their website and read about how they handle a 2 ohm bridged load. They do use some current limiting circuits. If the current draw is too large for too long at a 2 ohm load, the amp will turn off. They say the chances are pretty slim that the conditions to turn the amp off would happen, but I'd like to hear from some people who are actually using the same parts as I'm going to. I've been toying with the idea of getting a Titanium 500.4.

Chris.
Hey sorry to drag up the past this much, but I find myself in a similar situation. I have the same amp with an Alphasonik PSW608, which is also a 2 ohm DVC. I can't find this info on the PG website, but I'm a little worried about damaging something here, am I cool? Thanks

what are you wanting to do?

i do not recall the Tantrum amps being 1 ohm stable... so, you'd have to run the Alphasonik in a DVC series config for 4 ohms total load.

Sorry, I mispoke, the sub is a 4 ohm DVC, and I want to run it with my Tantrum bridged, like xmatt with his e8a.44 ( so i need it to be 2 ohm stable)

i'm 99.9% sure the Tantrum is 2 ohm stable when mono bridged. you should be good to go. wire the sub for parallel and a 2 ohm load.

and if XMatt's is using it for an e8a.44, you should be fine. i know i helped him a lot w/ his stereo, and i wouldn't have steered him wrong on that.

Thanks for the heads up, I was worried, but I feel better about the whole situation now. PG techs told me also that it will be stable at 2 ohm, but run hot, so I may need to install some fans. Thanks for your reply though PJK3!

no problem...

i'd agree though that you'll run hot at a 2 ohm mono load...

where are you planning on placing it?

I think you're asking where I'm placing the amp? I've got it mounted vertically in the trunk, much like xmatt, how hard is it to install fans? Do they run off the amp power wire?
