Default Take me under your audio wing.

I'm getting the Invidia exhaust soon. The stero is already anemic enough.

So I'm asking the Audio Junkies to take me under their wing.

What would be a good set up?

(I don't want alot of bass, I'm white)

I'll mostly be listing to rock.

Would I just need to buy new speakers?

Do i need a new HU?

Any help anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated!

I have an Invidia as well. I recently installed an aftermarket HU, amp and door speakers. It sounds great now. I can hear it with the top down at 80mph

Pioneer deh-690ub HU
RF P400.2 100wx2 amp
Infinty kappa 60.5cs speakers

I blew the speakers by improperly setting up amp and over powering them. I have a set of JL Audio xr650's

do some research, you will probably find everything you need in the search inside electronics. Stick to the basics, alpine, pioneer, kenwood for HUs, jl audio for amps....speakers are a bit more tricky. depends on what you are into. You can never go wrong with kappa perfects, or variations of kappa. focals and diamond audio are also good picks. you need to compare budget to performance b/c these often go hand in hand with car audio. Stick to around 100-150 watts per speaker from your amp. meaning you will need about 300 watt amp. Its personal preference from here on out....good luck

If you stick to head unit, amp, and door speakers you could have a satisfactory setup for under $500 I think... even though "you're white", you will be impressed how a subwoofer makes your music sound, rock n' roll, or not. Plan on another $300-$500 to complete your system with a larger (or additional) amp, plus sub.

I've heard there are some speakers which will not fit in the door panel without cutting though.

Also how hard would it be to get tweeters in the roll hoops? As in, cut the plastic and put them there and leave the opening alone.

You probably don't want tweeters behind your head. It tends to distort the sound stage a lot.

If anything, put a 5 1/4 in the vented panel behind the seat.

Realistically, any of the high quality speakers are going to require some kind of modification to the stock speaker basket. Almost any speaker worth putting in is going to have too large a magnet, or be too deep, to fit. There are threads on making MDF spacer rings so that you can fit whatever speakers your heart desires

I'm going to end this post with my usual response to these posts:

How much are you looking to spend, and how much is your absolute top limit?

How important is sound quality vs just something louder?

Note that higher sound quality is going to cost you, but will get louder than just a system bought to get loud.

I'm looking to spend between 200-400 dollars. 500 would be the highest I would go.

Sound quality is important to an extent. However I don't think it will matter as much with all the road noise I get. But I def. need louder.

I want to be able to hear it, top down on the highway with a semi next to me.

does that include installation, or will you install it yourself?
