Those with subs in their trunk...
Are you guys/gals getting any rattling with your trunk lid? My biggest fear with putting a sub in the trunk is getting the dreaded rattle. Is that a problem for any of you?

Number of rattles will depend on the power you're pushing.
Had a smaller box with my L5 in it and had a few rattles. I've dynamat'ed the whole inside of the trunk and still got some.
Worked on those, got most of them gone and eventually made a large box (the L5 really needed more space). When I first turned it all the way up I had rattles from all kinds of random places (visor, center console, etc).
I've gone back and fixed most of those. And I've managed to isolate the most annoying rattle to the stuff in the trunk latch (not the trunk, but the small escape switch on the latch itself).
So, pushing 800+ watts through a 12" in a large enclosure and you'll find every loose part on your car.
200 or 300 through a 10" and you'll find fewer rattles.

John, should I take out the carpet in the trunk and dynamat the whole floor? I already plan on doing the lid, but I am wondering about the bottom and sides too.

If you put any kind of a higher powered sub in you'll need to dynamat the trunk... and maybe a few othr places.

Yeah Jeff you should.
When you take the trim panels out you want to make sure you do the inside of the fenders, and the thin sheet metal that holds them. Basically any single layer of sheet metal should be done.
If you have enough, you should do the underside of the convertible top tray, the vent in the bumper... (that thing will drive you crazy), as will the back of the license plate and last but not least don't forget to do the to put a small piece on the trunk latch . (Fill the vent will polyfill and cap it off with Dynamat.)
