Thoughts on sub and enclosure
Okay, the last car I had a system in was the xB. I still have all of the parts and I'm looking to transplant some of them, maybe, into the S.
The clarion flipout won't work, so it's gonna go in my GF's car. As much as I like it, I'm going to go with a different source unit (I have one in mind but it's TSNS for now, it isn't anything that hasn't been done, but I don't want to jinx myself by talking about it.
)
I also have a Kicker L5 12" sub, in a Kicker box and an Audiobahn amp to push it.
I know the box won't work, for obvious reasons. The amp will be easy enough, it can go almost anywhere.
From what I've read the L5 will need ~0.88 ft^3 if it's run in a sealed enclosure.
So, that in mind, I was thinking of making a custom enclosure in the tool well. False floor the trunk and use that space for the sub.
My question, is there enough space there? I don't have the car on hand to check myself, but from memory there seems to be. I know the sub will eat up some of the air space, but I'm thinking I should be able to gather just under one cube foot even witht he sub, and enclosure, eating up some of the space.
Also, how badly will this thing mess with the car? I'm going to deaden most of the back of the car (and probably most of the cab), but this amp/sub combo made the roof of the B flex, even with the windows down. Is this going to overpower the car to the point of rattling the trunk off it's hinges (probably not, but I figured I'd ask).
I won't be running the amp at near the power I did in the B, I'm just going to power it enough for a solid, crisp, sound. from there we're going to focus on appearance. Nothing painted though, this is my daily driver and the trunk gets used.
Thanks!

You shouldnt have any problem getting .88CF out of that. I think you can get over 1.0CF if you use all fiberglass. If you use a partial MFD and fiberglass design, it will be near that. If it is a little under, just put a little poly filler in there, and it will make the box seem a little bigger than it is.
