I definitely want to keep the dash controls, so I hear that the Alpine's are the easiest and best for this. Anyone agree? Their new models are out, so I'm looking at those. Anything specific I should look for?

Thanks!

I bought a 9815 and it made a tremendous difference in sound quality, even with the stock speakers. Don't know about the '04' Alpine line.

I don't know what all the fuss is about with the dash controls.... what's better about changing stations with your left hand instead of the right hand? Now if they were on the steering wheel it would be a different story.

I agree, the 9815 is a great deck for the price. But if you can swing some extra cash around, get the 7977 - can be found for under 300. Hmm, thing is, you'll need an external amp for that since it has no power on it's own.

I have the eclipse 8443 now that deck has some great sound quality. It doesn't have some of the features like the alpine but it does have 8v preouts and a 24bit cdplay back I believe. This deck is setup for sound quality.

Just installed alpine 9827. picked it up for $200. world of difference from the oem hu and can play mp3 songs. only thing was I had to trim inside of the radio door so that it will close without hitting a button.
