Id like to upgrade my dome lights and rear plate lights to LED...kinda like what LEXUS looks like. Nice bright white, aaaaaalmost blueish.

If you find out where to get them THAT K1D, please let me know. or if anyone else knows too.

First post edited to include pics of the Animated Backup and Turn Signal PCBs... I'll post a video of them in action once I have a side assembled and installed.

Hi Dan
Have you considered the "hyperblink" that will be created with LED turn signals? I hope that you have NOT put a load resistor into the boards, to counteract this problem. I know that we will have to either take the OEM flasher apart and cut the "load wire " or replace the flasher unit with an adjustable electronic flasher.
Please let us know how to correct the above mentioned problem.

Yes, I've considered it... and you should know me well enough not to put something as silly as a load resistor on the boards ;-)

The stock bulb is rated for 21W, my board uses more like 3W. I don't know what the lower limit is on the stock relay, but until I test it out, I'm assuming they will hyperblink. I'm loath to tear apart the stock relay and I don't think it would be cost-effective for me to design a replacement module, so I'll probably grab a pre-made unit. I'll have a definitive answer once I install it.

I finished the Backup code this weekend, and I have one of the three Turn Signal animations coded... working on the last two. I wasted an entire day trying to debug why the Turn Signal board wouldn't light up... half of the day was spent figuring out the processor was toast (don't know why), and the second half was spent figuring out I was sent the wrong component. It was a bad day, so I put it down for a couple of days to catch my breath.

In the meantime I was working on the Dash Cluster Upgrade...

I'm curious on why you decided on two different patterns for the layout of the LEDs (vertical for reverse lights, circular for turn signal, is it?). Do the two colors of SM LEDs have different radiation patterns or perhaps was it just personal preference based on the animations you had in mind?

Turn signals work best as some form of left-to-right (and vice versa) pattern. I wanted something different for the Backup boards, but decided horizontal lines was too boring, so I went with semi-circles (to match up with the circles of the Animated Brake Lights).

Dan:

Sent you an email today about getting added to the list (been out of pocket for awhile, and took a gander at your website, where I saw the announcement!)

I'm sure these will look AWESOME with the brakelights mod, and I like the three animation option for the turn signals. (demo vid coming soon, I hope!!)

I got money burning a hole in my pocket and my dremel is rearing to go cuttin' some more taillight plastic! =)
