Default tweeter positon

got back from my local car audio shop and they said you would want to place your tweeters as low as possible.

i was planning on putting them on the A piller close to the dash board so they where sort of head height once seated in the car. is this wrong?

i have the boston PRO 60 i have a link in my sig so you can see what speakers i have before giving me feedback. wanting to fit them tomorrow as this is one of the last small jobs i have to do before i can put can back together.

cheers in advance.

I was told by my friend who is an installer that my tweets could not be mounted in the pillars because of depth issues. unless you want to surface mount them which looks like crap. i put mine in front of the mid on the door.

You can mount them in the pillers, just make sure you can adjust the cross-over properly. If you have no way to adjust them properly then you should mount them on the doors.

As for mounting them in the pillers. Depending on good your shop is, they may have to fiberglass a little to have them fit properly.

my car is a 2000 so i didnt have the newer door panels with tweeter mounts.

the speakers came with a whole host of attachments, and they tweeters are very small, think i will mount them on the a pillars but low down, didnt want to start cutting holes to mount them in doors but if i had to i would find new door cards with tweeter mounts from anewer car.

go buy the 05 grills and cut some holes like i did and do it OEM style. Looks Best IMO, and the difference in imaging is negligible to a laymen.

to late, i placed them low down on the A piller mouldings, but the bad news is when going out to get some solder wire i had a young women driver side line me in the car so it will be out of action for a few weeks, picture below.

but the good news is it gives me longer to sort out the amp racks in the boot as i removed the boot liner so i can carry on workign whilst the car is in the body shop being fixed. only happened on sunday 20th feb but things are getting sorted fast.

this is th efirst time i have gone this far with hifi alone so i am pleased it has gone so well.

wow that sucks allot. After working at a body shop part time for the past 6 years, if someone did that to my car there would be a M80 dropped in the gas tank at the scene.
Sorry for your accident

Get well soon S
