Uh oh
I have a stock 2002 with stock radio. Recently the radio was flickering and I didn’t think much of it until the dash lights started flickering a little too. Then the car wouldn’t start a few times. I took it to my mechanic who after spending a lot of time on it thought it was a corroded ground wire and replaced it. When I got it back the radio started flickering again and I took it back and they had it for 3 weeks and couldn’t find anything. Since then the radio is flickering more than ever and the car has had a few times where it didn’t start. I have an appt with Blacktrax in a few weeks. Any thoughts? The battery was replaced last year.
thanks!
thanks!
Could be a bad ignition switch - try jiggling the key when it's running ok to induce the problem, though I would
think your mechanic would have tried that.
You may get more answers in the "Under the Hood" forum as the stereo problem appears to be just a symptom.

Sounds similar to the issue I'm having with my 2005. I've spent the better part of a year, and several grand, chasing this electrical gremlin. For myself, I've narrowed the problem down to the command signal not reaching the alternator from the ECU. I've replaced the alternator twice, the fuses twice, the battery cables, the ECU, everything short of the harness. Pretty sure that's the next part I'm going to have to replace. Best of luck to you, and hopefully it's not the same problem I've got.
