Default Under seat space for amp install?

I'm looking for a small enough amp to put under either the driver, or passenger seat. Does anyone know what is the largest amp (in dimension) that can fit under there?

Has anyone ever measured and recorded the max available area there is to work with under the seats? I searched and didn't find an answer.

I'm currently looking at an amp that is : 11-15/16"W x 2-1/16"H x 10-5/16"D but I'd rather not have to pull the seats out to measure, put them back in and them pull them back out again to do the install. Has anyone ever installed an amp as big, or bigger than this under the seats? Height-wise, I think it should fit, but I can't be sure for the other dimensions.

That won't fit Only very small amps fit. That height should be ok but I almost positive the length and width are to big. If you don't mind losing a little leg room you can fit that behind the seat.

Thanks. I was figuring as much. I may end up going behind the seat anyway just to make it easier to adjust things.

Would a JL 300/4 amp fit under the passanger seat? Would there be enough air travelling through to keep it cool?

no...jl 300 will almost certainly be too large. I have a small alpine amp v-power 50x2, and it just barely fits. You can move the seat up and back maybe two clicks and then is blocked, but that is plenty for any of my passengers. But, I had to reinstall the amp about 4 times before i found a spot the amp would not interfere because it is a matter of centimeters.

as you'll see in the photo gallery, there have been a number of
amp installs above the gas tank, including JL 300/4 and Boston GT40.
basic requirements are: < 16" long, < 2.5" thick, able to cool itself
effectively with insulation pressing on its top.
