There are 2 dude who want to sell me their D30 SLR body for $600. Slightly used. Is this a good deal? They says for $800 they'll include a 50mm 1.8 lens... is this a good deal???

 

Depending on the condition, the body price doesn't sound TOO bad. $200 for a 50mm lens seems awefully high to me.

 

I agree. I'll have to look on my D30 to get the exact menu sequence, but you can get the total number of pics taken from it somewhere. If that number isn't outrageously high and the body is in good shape, then $600 is a reasonable price. $200 for a 50mm 1.8 is about 4x what it's worth though. If it's a 50mm 1.4, then that's a different story...

 

Thanks guys! You mean to tell me that the camera records how many pics it's taken??? That's crazy! So after 'x' of photos have been taken, am I required to service it?

 

No service, that I am aware of, but I like the fact that most cameras clock the shots now. I don't take very many. I am up to 2360 on mine...

 

I've seen them cheaper on eBay.
