Default V1 Concealed Display

I was just wondering where people are putting their Concealed Display for the V1 at in their car, and what are they using to secure it to the car with?

I haven't done it yet, but my intention is to try and emulate what some of the Audi S4 guys have done here:

http://forums.audiworld.com/s4/msgs/1693256.phtml

My S4 had the mute button on the side of the steering column, and the display on the top of the column. I don't think top of column would work real well on the S2000, so I'm eyeing the bezel over top of the HVAC vent, above the HVAC controls.

I've got two sheets of black ABS plastic on their way from McMaster Carr and am going to start playing around with it this weekend hopefully. The wiring aspect of it, I think I can handle with the help of a friend who used to install stereos for a living. The plastic fabrication stuff is another matter altogether...I posted looking for suggestions on here, but came up with pretty much nothing, so I'm going to just experiment and see what happens.

I don't have a concealed display but I do have my V1 hardwired located to the top right (passanger side) of the rearview mirror. It is as far up as you could place it. It works great for me. It is not very noticable unless you are really looking around for it. Might be an idea for you. The mute is still close enough to push easily.

Yeah I have mine hardwired and in the same spot, i have the concealed display on the drivers side in the corner where the windshield and dash meet to the left. I just can't get it to stick to the dash to stay in that spot, don't know what would be good to keep it there, any ideas?

I never bothered to get a concealed display. Why do people buy them?

My V1 is mounted to the LEFT of my rearview mirror. I love the location because my eyes don't stray off the road and because the unit is easily accessible for muting.

I like having it right in front of me so I never have to take my eyes off the road or move my head, guess I'm just lazy... haha

High temp velcro....available at radioshack will keep it in place.

That's where I had mine. I noticed that when I was driving top down at night, people would line up behind me and "leech" off my V1 since you could see the alerts from several car lengths away.

So now I have the concealed display mounted near the instrument cluster and thr V1 unit is dark... problem solved!

I didn't think people could even see the regular display from the rear, I just bought the concealed display so it'd be more easy to see what types of radar I was getting hit by.

What I love about the S2000 is that if you do get pulled over, it is very hard for a person to even see that you have a radar detector in the car.
