Default Valentine 1 --- any idea how to hard-wiring???

Need recommendation on how & where to get power for my new Valentine 1 instead of using the cigarette adapter??? What is the best way to route the wire & the spot for the radar to mount? If you know any link & picture, I would be really appreciated.

Okay, here's how to do it.

1. Cut off male connector on the end of the hardwire kit. Attach and crimp a 1/4" female spade connector instead.

2. Remove sunvisor.

3. Gently pull A-pillar off (releasing the clips w/o breaking them) and also gently pull the top trip back a bit.

4. Run phone cord (supplied with V1) along the trim, down the A-Pillar, and into the dash. Pull cord through under dash.

5. Look for the fuse box, find the open connector farthest towards the pedals on the left hand side of the box.

6. Attach female connector to male power plug. Attach ground to factory ground location (big brass thing near fuse box, can't miss it).

7. Tie or move the plug from the hardwire kit to the phone cord thingy up and away from view. Start car, and you're done.

This is assuming you mount it on the windshield, which is where V1 recommends it.

Total time (if you have the connector already) should be no more than 10 minutes.

Good luck.

This has some good pictures to see the blades for wiring in the fuse panel.

Good luck!

I just did my 8500 and it was pretty amazingly eazy.

Just check the photos to make sure you connect the wires in the right spots. Before you sodder make sure you haven't switched the polarity somewhere along the road. The a-pillar takes a little budge, it suprised me. It will come loose with a hefty tug. All in all and easy and great mod.

A couple of things......all instuctions were 100% except.......

Use the straight cord, not the coiled one.

Look on the website (s2000.org) only for reference.......

A few missing steps.......

You need a Torx25 to get the visor off.......you can use a flathead, just a little tougher.

Make sure when you put the a pillar back, you line up the vent tube.

When you cutoff the stock connector on the RED wire......
get yourself a female connector, the second smallest available......
Plug it into C

Good Luck

Reviving an old thread with a few tips from my recent install.

A large flathead screwdriver is perfect for an 05 visor. The screw will fit a torx or flathead.

My V1 is mounted high with the big suction cups to the LEFT of my rear view mirror. I found that mounting it to the right was too far out of my line of driving vision. But if you use a concealed display, mounting to the right of the mirror would be very nice.

1/4" female connector is perfect for the power.
