Valentine 1 Radar Detector Reviews
I know this may be a bit of a repost, but who would recommend the Valentine 1 radar detector system? Im thinking of investing in one and cant seem to decide so any insight on this would be extremely helpful in assisting me in my dilemma.

First, don't assume based on the previous comment that V1s are "immune" to detector-detectors, unless you want a nasty surprise.
I have both a V1 and a Passport 8500 (not the newest version, though), the only two clip-on systems of any merit (clip-on meaning that you don't have to do a professional-level install). Here's my take on the difference:
The V1 is somewhat more sensitive, but that's not true of the new version of the 8500, so they're pretty much a wash in those terms.
The V1 has two antennaes, one looking forward, one looking backward. This means that you have to be more careful about where you mount it, so that you don't block the rear antenna. But it also means that the V1 resolves signals' origins, and the unit has directional indicators. I've found this more than merely helpful -- without it (when I'm driving the car with the 8500) I feel lost.
The V1 costs about $100 more.
The 8500 has somewhat better human factors (i.e., nice things like muting itself and a little more filtering flexibility), but I've found these not to be a big deal.
So, for me, the question is whether the rear antenna is worth the $100 extra. And for me it definitely is. HPH

Don't Know about the 8500 but the V-1 offers a "remote" display that can be mounted out of sight of ANY car that's behind you. Nothing like a small flashing light on your visor or wind shield to "Upset" the "MAN"
I've looked into the V1 remote display, looks like it might fit into the same space as the "coin" pocket in the AP1.
Only thing I wasn't overly found of, from there, was you still had to windshield mount the actual unit. So it's better, but not perfect (IMO, as I like stealth installs).
Now, if there were some remote antennas you could get for it, then hide the brain somewhere else. That would be perfect.
