Default Valentine Hardwire - Ground Bolt

Got my 2nd S2K last week and the Valentine hardwire was cake in my last AP1 02.....this time, I bought an 07 and the bolt is impossible to connect to. I searched through the forums and curious if there's another place to ground the wire. I read that someone grounded it behind the left kick panel near the trunk release, but I can't get the panel off.

I'm obviously frustrated and have given up on the orginal bolt. My neck and back say no more. Hoping someone can help me out with an alternative.

Thanks!
Kevin

I don't think you have to remove the panel.

The ground is that bolt with all the other wires going to it from all sides. You can't miss it.

Why is it "impossible to connect to"?

I *just* did this Saturday on my 07. I didn't have any issues other then a bit of contortions to fit my body in a place where I cold see the bolt/operate the ratchet.

The ground bolt I'm referring to is located here:

You *might* have to snip/crimp on a round terminal connector instead of whats supplied AND I know you will have to snip/crimp on a female connector for the power.

Just remove the bolt, thread it thru the round connector and replace the bolt.

I found the bolt and loosened it. Just can get the U-shaped end to fit. I've tried a number of different sizes and I just can't seem to angle it correctly. Getting in there to just loosen the bolt was a ridiculous effort - I'm 6'1" 230, so maybe it's just harder for me (or maybe I'm just not flexible enough). I read that someone was able to ground it elsewhere, but maybe I'm wrong. I figure grounding is fairly simple - meaning it can attached anywhere to the frame of the car - but maybe I'm wrong.

Again, I did this EASILY in my 02...took me 5 minutes. In this 08 it's a serious PITA.

Why cant you just use a self tapper and find a small patch of metal? That's how I grounded my Valentine and I've never had an issue...

I did this when I picked up my S at the dealer. Honestly took me about 30-45 minutes to get that damn ground into the bolt. I struggled with it for a long time. I don't know how I got it to work, and honestly I don't think I'll ever want to do it again. I'd much rather find another ground connection instead.

Good Luck.

It took me all of 30 minutes to do my V1 hardwire. I think it is harder on the 2008 due to the TPMS module being in the way.

There are many other places you can grab ground from.
